Not exactly. But if you\u2019re using Windows, you can use a capable flash device to speed your system a different way: It\u2019s called ReadyBoost<\/strong>, and it\u2019s been built into the OS since the days of Vista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ReadyBoost lets your PC use a flash device as a predictive (“prefetch”) cache, preloading the data that the OS thinks you\u2019ll next use. Because flash devices are usually faster than spinning-platter hard drives, the combination of aggressive prefetching (called “superfetch”) and faster hardware can result in a performance boost for the PC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ReadyBoost also doesn\u2019t permanently alter the flash device; which can be used normally afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not exactly using the same as using it for more RAM, but it\u2019s better than nothing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
