A: Funniest one I recall was actually a folder name.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Back in the day, serious PC users could create small scripts to automate repetitive tasks. These scripts were actually a series of manual commands that the operating system would execute, same as if you’d typed in each command individually.<\/p>\n

Because these scripts were a series<\/em><\/span> or batch<\/em><\/span> of commands, the scripts were called batch files<\/em><\/span>, and had the filename extension .bat<\/strong> .<\/p>\n

Most people put their batch files in the root folder\/directory, but one clever guy — I wish I remembered his name — collected all his .bat<\/strong>s in a folder called\u00a0\/belfry<\/strong> .\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
