With the end of this year’s stint as a herring migration monitor<\/a> (numbers yet to come), I had a free morning this week. It was summerlike, so I slathered on the sunblock and pedaled to Deer Island, in Boston harbor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Part of the Harborwalk rings the island. I hadn’t been there in a year, but the views were as good as I remembered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the seaward side, there are views of the other islands, all the local lighthouses, the ship and boat traffic, and the Atlantic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the landward side, there are some excellent views of Boston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
