Keyboards primarily differ in the quality of their internal key mechanisms — how robust the springs or domes are; how much pressure and vertical key travel it takes to trigger a keystroke; how well the keys are 2-axis stabilized; how much noise they make; and how long the electrical contacts and other moving parts last.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cheap keyboards may have crappy, wobbly keys that feel like they’ll fall off if you type hard; or “dead-feeling” keys that slow you down and are unpleasant to type on (like drumming your fingers on a hard table); or they may be unusually loud; or may break sooner than later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
