It\u2019s not the clicks, per se, but the positive tactile feedback that tells you that a key has been depressed enough to register the keystroke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a well-made mechanical keyboard, all the keys will \u201cbreak\u201d their upward resistance with the same amount of pressure (i.e. they\u2019ll generate the click and register the keystroke at the same point in the up\/down movement). This reproducibility and predictability speeds typing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a poorly-made keyboard, different keys might require different amounts of pressure to register the keystroke; or all the keys might requite heavy, or pounding, or full-travel keystrokes; all of which slow down a fast typist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
