If I were doing it again, I would have added an additional week to the trip. (See previous New Zealand posts<\/a>.) But after the TranzAlpine train, due to both the distances and travel options available, it was time to begin the journey back. Points further south in New Zealand would have to wait for another trip. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next day, we awoke to yet another dawn spectacle as we made our way to the scenic Coastal Pacific train<\/a> which runs up the east coast of the South Island, to Picton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’d covered a similar route by bus a few days before; but this was by a far more comfortable train, and the views were in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As before, there was an abundance of scenery along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
