target=\"_blank\">previous New Zealand posts<\/a>), we checked out of the room, left our bags with the bell staff, and Uber&#8217;ed into <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Auckland (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Auckland\" target=\"_blank\">Auckland<\/a> for a day of pleasant, touristy sightseeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery aligncenter \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s a pseudo-bungy jump from near the top &#8212; but it&#8217;s actually a controlled descent mechanism with guy wires and a mechanical braking system to stabilizer the &#8220;jumper&#8221; and prevent (rather than allow) free fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the descent is fast, and it&#8217;s probably fun in its own way. aria-label=\"Yellowbus (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tourism.net.nz\/listing\/135700\/new-zealand\/the-yellow-bus---auckland-airport-auckland-airport-hotels\" target=\"_blank\">Yellowbus<\/a> to the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The long, overnight Air New Zealand flight to San Francisco was as good as the outbound flight had been: comfortable seats for sleeping the night away, good food and drink for dinner and breakfast, and plenty of entertainment options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cross-country United flight from SF to Boston was as mediocre as the outbound United flight had been.
