OK! The test drive has been working fine — I’ve been posting a mix of content types via immediate- and delayed-action posts, and from desktop and mobile apps. Everything seems to work more or less as it should. Finally!
(I’d still like to tune the site appearance, but that’s far less important than just getting all the parts working.)
I’m hoping to have at least one new item posted every day, from here on out. I don’t know how that will go, but that’s the goal.
I’ve been experimenting with voice-to-text apps, as a way of speeding new content production, especially when I can’t be physically present at a keyboard. But — just like every other time I’ve tried it — voice-to-text still comes up short, and requires more time in cleaning up transcription errors than if I’d just typed the text in directly, from scratch. There’s a story there, especially about the shortcomings of Win10’s built-in dictation function. (Android/Google’s text-to-speech is far, far superior!) Stay tuned.
In the next week, I’ll be emailing those who requested notification when Langa.com was live and stable; I believe I’m far enough along now that I won’t be wasting readers’ time.
And, if you’ve read this far, you might find these very early stats about your fellow readers interesting:
I was very surprised what countries you all are coming from:
Most of the early visitors to Langa.Com got here by directly typing the URL, or as the result of a search for “langa” or “fred langa” or some such. But a nontrivial number are referred from other sites, some a surprise to me:
Another surprise: Most of you are visiting here via desktop/laptop PC.
I really thought the mobile contingent would have been higher. It doesn’t matter one way or the other, but it’s interesting.
It will be fun to see how the site stats change in the coming months, with the site finally running smoothly. 🙂
Once again, thanks for your patience. Glad you stopped by!
