Q. Is it easy to find a public bathroom in Downtown Boston? (via Quora)
A. It’s not hard, but they’re not always obvious.
For example, many Boston streets have large, circular kiosks with advertising on the outside. These are actually public restrooms, although they are not obviously so, until you see the door. They cost about a dollar to use, if I remember correctly.
All government office buildings, public spaces such as the Boston Public Library and all its branches, and many T stations, have public toilets.

Many private businesses, including the Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts on practically every block, also have publicly available restrooms; some shopkeepers (especially in the tourist-heavy areas) might expect you buy something — a water, a soda, a cup of coffee — to offset the costs of stocking and cleaning the facility.
