Reader Ross asks:
“What’s your experience of Uber in Boston, Mass?”
The Uber service and drivers here are OK; but (IMHO) Uber as a corporation sucks: known for bad business practices, criminal investigations, institutionalized misogyny, etc.
Why give money to a company like that?
I use Lyft instead. It has some corporate issues of its own, but seems to me to carry far less toxic baggage; and in fact does some very positive things, such as pledging to offset the carbon footprint of every ride you take. (Lyft says it’s the world’s largest purchaser of carbon-offsets.)
Also, many Uber drivers also drive for Lyft, so you get the exactly same cars and drivers, but without helping to support a company (Uber) with an apparently toxic corporate culture.
