Still using IE10? Really?

I hope it’s not a surprise to you: Internet Explorer 10 is in its final months; and will no longer be supported by Microsoft as of January 2020 — the same “end of life” as Windows 7.

As the Microsoft TechCommunity Blog bluntly states: “You will have until January 2020 to complete the transition from Internet Explorer 10 (IE10) to IE11. After this, we will not release any security or non-security updates, free or paid assisted support options, or online technical content changes for IE10.

The software will still work after January, 2020, of course, but it will become increasingly unsafe — a stationary target for hackers.

It’s hard to imagine any good reason to still use IE10 when so many better options exist. But still, there probably are custom apps that depend on it; locking in their users.

Those poor souls have 11 months to move their software to a better browser, but there’s scant reason for anyone else to wait. If you’re still using IE10, switch today, OK?

IE11 is built into Windows 10. (So is Edge, but it may be going away. Info.) But there are other choices, too, such as:
