This week’s new AskWoody Plus newsletter is out; and for a while, you can read it for free, here.
Here’s what’s inside issue 16.10.0:
- LANGALIST: Win10’s new winver alternative contains a ton of useful and easy-to-access info about your PC’s security, hardware, and operating system. Plus: Is Macecraft’s jv16 PowerTools still recommended? And, why is a reader’s external drive suspending/sleeping while busy — in mid-task?
- WOODY’S WINDOWS WATCH: Seven Semper Fi: How to ride Win7 into the sunset. Next January, Windows 7 hits the end of the road, as far as Microsoft is concerned. But if you’re not ready to switch, don’t worry: We’ll continue to talk about Win7 as long as there’s reader interest and need.
- PATCH WATCH: Microsoft starts the Windows 7 countdown
- DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT: The new world of professional ‘digital’ sports
Previous issues are archived here.
What’s this about? Woody Leonhard has launched a new newsletter that’s very much cast in the mold of the classic Windows Secrets newsletter, with the latest articles on Microsoft Windows, PC maintenance, security, best apps, smartphones, and other important computing topics.
Many of the original Windows Secrets gang have signed on, including Woody himself, Susan Bradley, Tracy Capen, myself, and others.
Eventually, the AskWoody Plus newsletter will be by subscription, but for now it’s open and free to all!
