“Is there any way to charge a phone faster?”

Sure, turn it off! Seriously, your phone will charge fastest when it’s fully powered off and connected to an active charger.

If a full power-off charge isn’t possible, power down as much you can. Some things you can do:

  • Turn the screen brightness down to the lowest level you can use; use Dark Theme/Night Mode etc., if available.
  • Mute or lower system volume.
  • Enable Airplane mode, or individually kill Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Chromecast, NFC, etc.
  • Suspend media playback.
  • Use as few apps as possible; avoid intensive apps such as gaming, video-heavy web sites, etc.

And so on. The idea is, when you need to charge in a hurry, to let the phone concentrate on charging. The fewer other tasks that siphon off some of the available energy, the better.

So, for absolute maximum charging speed, turn the phone off completely. When it’s getting time to go, start the phone and let it fully boot while still connected to the charger. When the phone’s back up and running, unplug and go — and you’ll have the absolute maximum possible battery charge your phone was capable of achieving in the time allowed.
