“What applications do Windows laptops come with that can be uninstalled?”

(Answer requested by Ryan Nugent)

In my experience, all of them.

Windows 10’s various Reset and Fresh Start options can strip away most or all (your choice) of the preinstalled software on any Windows PC. You’ll be left with a PC running as “pure” and unmodified a Windows setup as your system allows.

You may need drivers (not apps) from the laptop’s maker to fully enable all the hardware on your system; and you may even want some of the OEM apps (e.g. I like HP’s “Support Assistant,” which automatically keeps my PC’s drivers correctly updated). But Win10’s Reset/Remove everything will definitely strip away the optional, bloatware/demoware crap that so many PCs come with; and leave you with a lean, clean, freshly installed Windows setup.

Depending on the specifics, some apps you previously installed from the Windows Store, and some similar OEM apps, may auto-reinstall after the Reset; just uninstall these apps normally, if you don’t want them, and they shouldn’t come back.

Give it a shot: Back up your files to a safe place, and then try a Reset (info) or Fresh Start (info).

  1. I think you might be forgetting that Windows comes with some of its own crapware that you might not want and would prefer to uninstall. Things such as OneDrive, Skype, and those Start menu tiled apps, such as Candy Crush Friends, Farm Hero Saga, Weather, and all that Xbox stuff. Those can all be uninstalled, if you don’t want them.

Reset and Fresh Start won’t get rid of those and will probably bring them back, if you had previously uninstalled them.
